There are two most popular career options which are doctor and engineer In the world.
In this blog let’s take a look at three important reasons why doctors are better than engineers.
Note: I want to make it clear that I am not writing this blog to demean any profession like engineering.
These are just my thoughts about the 2 professions and I also back my statements with solid data and statistics so that you can rely and trust my blog content.
With that lets jump right in.

3 reasons why doctors are better than engineers?
1. Earning potential
The main benefit of doctors compared to engineers is the amount of money they can make.
According to bureau of labour statistics, the average salary of surgeon and physician is $208000 per year which translates into 100$ per hour.
And according to pay scale the average salary of a doctor in India is approximately 7 lakh rupees per annum.
But in order to achieve these figures you as a doctor have to study a lot for more than 5-6 years after your 12th and get internship and graduation and post graduation and a lot of knowledge and experience.
If we compare this with engineering, currently computer science engineering is the most popular branches in the engineering field and
it is also career option which can give you the highest package in engineering field for the graduates substantially more than other engineering popular fields like mechanical and civil engineering because
There are major technology companies like Google, Facebook and Amazon who recruit these graduates to grow their company and business.
But according to bureau of labour statistics the average salary of the computer science engineer is 127000$ per year which converts into $60 for one hour.
According to talent, the average salary of a computer science engineer in India is 650000 rupees per annum.
You can clearly see the difference between both the profession in general, when it comes to earning potential just by looking at the numbers & data obviously doctor have an upper hand than engineers.
2. Demand & evergreen profession
Higher salary and earning potential of doctors is there because of a simple reason which is demand.
You should know that every economy and business in any country or any profession runs on 1 concept, demand and supply.
If there is more demand of something but has less supply then it can obviously have higher value you and price for example
gold and diamond are one of the most valuable materials you can find in the world or Bitcoin is another most valuable thing online and what makes them so much valuable is that they have limited supply and they are attractive things.
At the same time when it comes to being a doctor the another benefit you have compared to engineers is that you have high demand and being a doctor is more of a evergreen profession.
Let’s take a look at how many doctors are available in countries like India for every thousand people to understand the situation better.
According to government data,
The ratio is 1.34 doctor for 1,000 Indian citizens as of 2017 but the average for 2018 based on 33 countries was 3.34 doctors per 1,000 people.
Apart from that there are many reports which show that India has less doctors to patient ratio and it is also accepted in indian parliament that there is only one doctor for 1445 patients which creates a ratio of 0.62:1000
Not just in India but in many countries across the world including Pakistan and many European countries, the number of doctors are quite less for every 1000 people.
This clearly shows that there is a limited supply of doctors and obviously the demand for doctors is very high because everybody needs a doctor as everybody has to take care of their health.
Another important reason why doctors are limited in number in many countries is because it takes a lot of time and money and a lot of energy for students to become a doctor compared to other professions.
At the same time the ratio got worse during the coronavirus pandemic not just in India but across the world.
Because of this reason we can see that the salary of doctors is on the higher side compared to engineering.
Apart from that the profession of doctor is more in demand and evergreen compared to engineering professions like computer science engineering which can change with changing technology and user behaviour.
You also have high job security as compared to being an engineer where your boss or any head in the company can fire you Out of the company anytime.
For example when it comes to engineering there is a lot of buzz around artificial intelligence replacing many jobs including
many engineering jobs of different branches like mechanical engineering and computer science but it is not likely to happen with doctors.
As per many websites, the automation risk of doctors into engineers is 0.7% & in general AI can’t replace doctors at any cost because,
AI lack important qualities of a doctor like empathy and compassion towards patients and many more reasons.
According to the bureau of labour statistics the job growth of physicians and doctors is 31% in 2020-2030.
The percentage is increasing a lot especially after the corona pandemic hit & damaged many healthcare systems around the world.
3. Respect & authority status
Third Important reason why doctors are better than engineers is because of the respect and authority status the doctors have compared to engineers.
Obviously, because doctors save lives and improve our health, they have more respect in society compared to engineers.
Because at the end of the day we can still live without all the inventions that engineers have done but we cannot live without doctors because they help us have a healthy life.
According to a survey, more than 75% of the doctors are happy with their profession.
And in countries like India doctors are also perceived as demigods because they save lives of people which only God can do other than doctors.
Because of these three reasons I believe doctors are better than engineers in some aspects.
I also believe that the doctor profession also has its own disadvantages compared to engineering which I will write about in future blogs.

These are all the important reasons why I believe some way or the other doctor are better than engineers.
